Several organizations, national and international, collaborate to develop metadata standards. Within the United States the Geospatial Metadata standards are established by the Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC). Compliance to these metadata standards is an ongoing process at the university, municipal, state, federal and tribal levels. To facilitate these efforts the network of data and metadata users, developers, and trainers have generously contributed to the resources presented here. Data presented on this website was adapted from the following areas.
