From Virginia Talbot, Southern Brazil - March 2008:

Hi!

My name is Virginia, I saw the documentary about fossil creek on the television last week and I was really interested to talk with the people that worked on the project!

I work in an NGO in Brazil, InGa (Southern Institute for Environmental Studies) www.inga.org.br and we have a big struggle against giant dams that the government is trying to build unnecessarily in Uruguai river basin... These dams  are about to end with important ecosystems, endangered species and also prejudicing the people that live near the river that have to move to slams in big cities. It's a hard struggle we are facing there and I was absolutely amazed, impressed and happy to see that here in US you were able to revert the bad impacts of some dams!

We have a website about one of this dams www.inga.org.br/paiquere

Unfortunately we still don't have the page in english, but you can see some of the pictures if you're interested. I'd really like to get some material of your work here, and exchange some ideas about this topic because I think you have a lot to teach us!

I'm in Flagstaff today, tomorrow, then on thursday and friday, when I have to go to Phoenix.
I hope we can meet! I'm sorry for the bad english!

Thanks for now, and congratulations for the amazing work

From Susan Snider, Nevada City, California - February 2008:

Finally had a chance to view 'A River Reborn'. It's one film that will offer continual insight, inspiration, and hope that at a local level, all stakeholders could work cooperatively... Truly a compelling instrument for optimism, that such an achievement can be accomplished in the general absence of bitter divisiveness. Hope to see your next film endeavor as an offering at a future WSEFF.

From Maribeth Watwood, Flagstaff, Arizona - February, 2008:

This is the most hopeful environmental video I have ever seen. I hope that everyone can follow this model! Congratulations to everyone involved in this story and to those who helped bring this story to light.

From Laura Moore, Anchorage, Alaska - January, 2008:

My husband and I make a trip every May to Vegas to visit in-laws, and one of these times I’m going to have to make a side trip to spend some time at Fossil Creek again. Some of the things that most people don’t know about that can be seen there are crinoid fossils and the tiny geodes that sparkle in the sun in many of the rocks. I always thought it had been named Fossil Creek because of the actual fossils that can be found there.

I would also like to share with you and other readers a short piece of writing that I did back in the summer of 2000 when I took a creative writing course at Yavapai College. The words came to me after an afternoon of snorkeling/floating at the pool by the main bridge at Fossil Creek. Even back then I thought that if I could somehow relay the feeling from Fossil Creek in writing or some other form of creativity to others, maybe it could somehow make a difference in how people view the place…even the leaves of the trees seem greener there…anyway, it's from my heart to Fossil Creek / Tu Do Tliz.  I always wondered what the native people called the place—I knew it had to be someplace special.

Fossil Creek

Of dragonflies and blue-green waters,

Thunderheads and raindrops,

Children’s laughter and fishes’ tales,

Of this, the Fossils speak….

Of wind-shimmering tree leaves,

Bejeweled butterflies dancing on air,

Iridescent sunlit dragonfly wings,

Of this, the Waters tell….

Of sunlit prisms through the water,

Through clouds and the gods’ breath they stream,

Of meditations on the water;

In these, I hear Spirit’s breath….

Of cackling falls with their canyon walls,

Fishing spiders and blue-gilled fishes,

Heaven-after is this place,

Of dragonflies and blue-green waters.

From Dr. Jordi Cortina, Alicante, Spain - July, 2007:

I'm visiting faculty at ERI-NAU. Some months ago I had the chance to attend the presentation of the excellent DVD "A River Reborn"; now I'd like to purchase a copy to bring it back home. Could you please tell me if it is available for purchase?

Thanks,

From Michael Smith, Chico, California - May, 2007:

Wonderful film!--- I live on a creek in northern California, and I am involved with the FERC relicensing process on that creek as a member of a small non-profit environmental organization.---  The Power company,s latest is considering decommissioning one powerhouse--, unfortunately, no talk of removing the damn or screening the diversions or laddering the other dams. We do not have a happy  ending yet, for our story, so any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You,
Michael Smith.

From Colby Hawkinson, Moscow, Idaho - January, 2007:

Thanks again for the heads-up re: broadcast of A River Reborn... I caught it on Idaho Public Television earlier this month.  It was very well-done.

I have suggested a screening of it to the Lewiston, Idaho and Spokane, Washington reps from Save Our Wild Salmon, Dustin Aherin and Sam Mace.  Hopefully they will follow up by contacting you.  Between teaching and guiding I realize I don't have enough time to devote to getting a screening going, but I sure appreciate efforts like your movie.

Thanks,
