The project data is stored both in an web-based Oracle© database and a downloadable MS-Access version.
A treatment is defined as a vegetation manipulation applied to sagebrush - including chaining, chemical spray, hazardous fuels reduction, etc. as well as any methods that were secondarily applied to the same area - such as revegetation projects. Wildfires and wildfire rehabilitation were not considered.
Variables collected for the database include a variety of details on the application process such as time, location, methods used, geographic and ecological descriptions of the site, seeded species, administrative designations, cooperators, and financial data. We developed a polygon dataset delineating the boundaries of the more than 500 sage treatments across the Plateau. For each treatment, the treatment location was provided by the BLM project files. This location was then used to create a shapefile containing the maximum extents of each treatment. GIS coverages are available to download on the GIS Data page for this website.
Images consist of scanned photos and BLM maps from treatment files. Photos may have been taken as a part of the assessment, monitoring, or application process. Images are available to viewing and downloading at our PJWOOD Database site.
