Statement of Purpose

To study the impacts and benefits of thinning, prescribed burning, goat grazing, and wildfire on the Payson Ranger District. Our objective is to reduce catastrophic wildfire danger in the wild land and urban interface in Mogollon Rim Country, to initiate the restoration of natural ecological systems and watersheds, and to develop and foster sustainable forest conditions utilizing interagency and public cooperation and the best science available.
